Fake Laugh previews new EP with ‘Freely’ title-track

He’s still lurking in the shadows (that’s him over there, can you spot him? He’s standing under a bridge, looking slightly threatening - yeah maybe you should cross the road), Kamran Khan’s sharing his heart on new track ‘Freely’. Up to now, the London musician’s been delivering swift doses of sweet, ‘50s-inclined bedroom pop, like Mac DeMarco if he got well and truly stuck in his ‘Chamber of Reflection’.

But on new song ‘Freely’ - taken from an EP of the same name - Khan looks outwards slightly. He steers his view towards a special someone, and coos big claims like “I wanna live with you easily.” All this guy needs is a settling down, someone to call his own in a beautiful home. A bedroom pop budget might not guarantee that future, but his new EP remains one of the essential new releases for anyone hooked up on woozy guitar-led rejoice.

‘Freely’ is coming out on Khan’s new label Violent Tapes, limited to 100 copies. It’s available for pre-order here, out 27th September.

Fake Laugh is set to play shows with Oscar and Soph Nathan on October 2nd (Brighton, venue TBC) and 3rd (London KPH).
