Future Islands’ Samuel T. Herring and Earl Sweatshirt share ‘Play It Cool’
Collaboration features on the new Grand Theft Auto V soundtrack.
Talk about a collaboration. With The Alchemist and Oh No (Gangrene) leading the way, Future Islands’ Samuel T. Herring and Earl Sweatshirt have teamed up on ‘Play It Cool’.
The track features on Rockstar Games’ expanded soundtrack for Grand Theft Auto V, ‘The Alchemist and Oh No Present: Welcome to Los Santos’. Complete with scattered flute sections and disjointed jazz notes, ‘Play It Cool’ has Herring on lead chorus vocals, with Sweatshirt’s verses jumping in and out of consciousness.
‘Welcome to Los Santos’ is set to feature new music from Little Dragon, Phantogram, Killer Mike and Freddie Gibbs. It’s out 14th April, coinciding with the PC release of ‘GTAV’.

4 Stars
While the music is a little more inward, more reserved, it still carries all the hallmarks of the signature Future Islands sound.
