Girl Ray have released their new single ‘Up’. Listen to the song below.
‘Up’ is the third song to have been released ahead of the band’s third album ‘Prestige’, which is due to come out on 4th August via Moshi Moshi.
The band’s guitarist and lead singer Poppy Hankin had this to say about ‘Up’: “Written at the beginning of my current relationship, ‘Up’ deals with all the emotions of a fledgling romance: adoration, self-doubt, and everything in between! Musically we wanted to pay homage to the sparseness of Queen’s ‘Cool Cat’, and the groove of Bowie’s ‘Fame’”.
Hankin has co-produced the new album alongside the Grammy-winning producer Ben H. Allen (M.I.A., Deerhunter). It follows on from Girl Ray’s previous albums ‘Earl Grey’ in 2017 and ‘Girl’ in 2019.
The band had previously shared the singles ‘Everybody’s Saying That’ and ‘Hold Tight’.
