Gulf talk Latitude 2015: “I would stay indefinitely if it was up to me”
Exciting Liverpool group are a new music highlight on the festival’s final day.
Gulf have only been on the Latitude site for a few hours, but they’re more reluctant than any other festival-goers to leave after its final day.
The past twelve months have seen this Liverpool group refining their sophisticated, glassy-eyed take on pop, which has quickly placed them alongside fellow Northern favourites Outfit and Dutch Uncles.
Speaking ahead of their set on the Lake Stage later today, Thomas Murray (guitar / vocals) has fallen in love with the festival. “I’ve not seen anything to dislike. Everything is weird and wonderful in its own little way,” he says. “We went to a section where they were showing some movies, people chilling out, jacuzzis - every sense was being hit by everything going on. It’s a lovely site and to be honest, I’ll be gutted when we have to leave. I would stay indefinitely if it was up to me.
“You discover new things every time you turn a corner. When it got announced that you could swim in the lake, we were so excited. We’re going to try and get in there after our set.”
Straight after their set, they’re heading back, but they’re aiming to catch Seasick Steve over on the Obelisk Arena. “I’m worried that we’re not going to see Warpaint. Aquilo are on just before us on the same stage, and we go on just after Warpaint finish, which is a shame. And we’ve got the rest of the summer to go and see them. I’m so made up though - we’ve got this and then Secret Garden Party next weekend. It’s going to be amazing.”
Gulf will play The Lake Stage at Latitude Festival from 7.30pm.
