On 2nd July, the Barbican in London will be hosting a very special event indeed - Canadian Blast: a celebration of contemporary Canadian sound.

The evening is being held as part of Blaze, which will be bringing a series of events to East London this spring including UK exclusives, major international artists, new commissions and free performances.

$Chilly Gonzales$ will open the show with a rare solo piano set, followed by performances from $Woodpigeon$, $The Hidden Cameras$ (playing in celebration of their tenth anniversary, nonetheless) and Devon Sproule.

There will also be free music from 2.30pm featuring Linda McRae, Ryan Driver, Mantler, Sandro Perri, Maylee Todd, DJ Ghostcat, and a screening of ‘Ivory Tower’, scored, co-written and co-starring $Chilly Gonzales$.

For more information and to book, visit barbican.org.uk/blaze. Sign up to the mailing list and you’ll also be able to download the rather spiffy mixtape you can hear streaming below, absolutely free. It features contributions from many of the artists playing, including an exclusive track from $Woodpigeon$.

Later this summer Blaze will also be hosting a night with $Basement Jaxx$ and orchestra Metropole Orkest (conducted by the Heritage Orchestra’s Jules Buckley). They’ll be showcasing collaborative work including sneak peeks into new $Basement Jaxx$ tracks on 14th and 15th July at the Barbican.
