Chilly Gonzales breaks down the magic of The Weeknd’s ‘Can’t Feel My Face’

Chilly Gonzales has put together a music theory-based analysis on The Weeknd’s Max Martin-produced smash hit ‘Can’t Feel My Face’.

Last time Gonzales theorised about gigantic pop songs, he got into a spot of bother, comparing Hozier to his go-to collaborator Feist before getting a call from the former’s lawyers.

After a swift make-up with Hozier, Chilly’s back at the piano giving his take on ‘Can’t Feel My Face’. He tries to play reggae on the piano, he rattles on about Beethoven, and about how The Weeknd creates “this ambiguity, where you don’t really know where you are” - and that’s the magic of the track.
