Hookworms’ MJ shares new song as Family Scraps
It joins ‘It Follows’ for a Too Pure Singles Club release.
Hookworms frontman and Suburban Home production maestro MJ has shared a new track under his solo moniker Family Scraps.
Recorded following the Christmas floods which devastated his riverside recording studio in Leeds in 2015, there’s a hopeful edge to ‘Mistakes,’ despite verses which grapple with taking care, and being true to yourself. “You’ve got heart still left, it’s true,” sings MJ atop sugar-griddled, and a steady, plodding bass-line. It’s a total doozy of a song tbh.
‘Mistakes’ joins previous single ‘It Follows’ on a new single, out on Too Pure Singles Club in early 2017. MJ’s plotting a full-length album “as soon as i can get studio time to finish it,” apparently.
