Let it burn Julien Baker is on fire with new track ‘Funeral Pyre’
She’s also announced two new UK shows and has signed to Matador Records.
American singer-songwriter Julien Baker has announced that she’s signed to Matador Records and to celebrate she’s shared a brand new track called ‘Funeral Pyre’.
If you’ve been to one of her gigs then you might recognise the tune, as it’s been a live staple for some time. The proper release is deeply atmospheric, with Julien’s emotionally involving voice drifting over simple, reverberating guitar melodies. It’s a torch song for the darkest of nights.
Speaking of gigs, Julien has also just announced that she’ll be playing two dates in the UK later this year. She’ll head to London’s Bush Hall on 5th June and Manchester’s Deaf Institute the next day. Tickets for both shows go on sale on Monday 9th January.
See Julien’s dates and listen to ‘Funeral Pyre’ right here. It’ll feature on a new 7” from Baker, released on 13th March. Catch up with our interview with her from last year here.
