Return of the Zac
Just what are Paramore up to?
Sneaky snaps show both ‘Self-titled’ producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen… and a certain Zac Farro.

“Eating with people not doing anything special at all,” posted Paramore on their various social presences on Monday, a caption that wouldn’t mean much were it not for the appearance of both ‘Self-titled’ producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen (who we’d otherwise assume might be deep in rehearsals for Beck’s upcoming tour dates, being as he is, the solo star’s usual bassist of choice), and one Zac Farro.
Zac and his brother Josh, both founding members of Paramore, left the band back in December 2010 under less-than-amicable circumstances. Bassist Jeremy Davis left last year.
The former drummer and their knob-twiddling pal then popped up again on Tuesday (“Eating again,” they said), and yesterday (Wednesday), with the caption “Yeahhh”. And, of course, empty food wrappers.
Then followed what’s very obviously some studio footage with a bassist, guitarist and drummer - all of which are filmed from the waist down (but, as our resident drumming type informs us, show a Gretsch kit; the same brand Zac has long been ‘associated with’).
Hayley Williams has, of course, dropped many a suggestion that album five is in the works, the follow-up to 2013’s ‘Paramore’.
To conclude - if we didn’t know better we’d assume this all means Paramore are in the studio, recording with Justin Meldal-Johnsen once more, and Zac’s back. Or Hayley and guitarist Taylor York have developed a habit of sharing their mealtimes.
Why not revisit our Paramore cover feature from October 2013, or there’s always Paramore vs. Chvrches, as Lauren Mayberry and Hayley interview each other, from the August 2014 issue.
