Kanye West set to receive Video Vanguard Award at the VMAs
Yeezy is honoured with MTV’s prestigious lifetime achievement award.
Following in the footsteps of recent winners Beyonce and Justin Timberlake, MTV have announced Kanye West as the recipient of their Video Vanguard Award.
Kanye’s set to receive it at the VMAs on Sunday. The awards show will be hosted by Miley Cyrus.
Formally called ‘Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award’ since 1991 (doesn’t roll off the tongue, does it?), it’s the most prestigious award at the ceremony and honours artists that have had a big impact on MTV culture. Kanye actually presented Hype Williams the award in 2006, but this time he’ll be receiving it himself.
The VMAs are airing live from Los Angeles for US viewers on MTV at 9PM Eastern/Pacific time, but people in Blighty can watch it at 8pm on MTV the following day.
