Kanye West says album is “80% finished”, keeps forgetting to call Beck

Earlier today, Kanye West checked in with Power 105.1’s Breakfast Club for an interview that covered all topics.

Most importantly, he spoke about his new album, which he claims is “80% finished”, but he also addressed Beck, Kim Kardashian’s PAPER magazine cover and future collaborations.

When pressed about the new record, West promised “bars, songs, [and] cookout music that just feels good.” Elaborating, he said: “My last album was a protest to music, I was like ‘I’m gonna take my ball and go home’…This album is embracing the music, joy. Being of service to the people. I just hope people like it and enjoy it.” He told people to expect a “surprise” release.

Discussing his Grammy-stage storm with Beck, he revealed that he’s been meaning to call the ‘Morning Phase’ award winner, but he keeps getting distracted. He also admits that he hadn’t heard the album when he went on stage.

“I got his [Beck’s] number and I was supposed to call, but I just keep forgetting…I felt good for him. Think of all the good stuff that happened to me in the last eight days. The person that won was Beck, because if I hadn’t done that, his Album of the Year would’ve never been mentioned…He should win an award for what he did—Rock Album—but he shouldn’t have won that award.”
