Karen O streams ‘Rapt’ from new solo album
Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer releases her solo debut via Julian Casablancas’ Cult Records.
Karen O has shared ‘Rapt’, the first track from her debut solo album ‘ Crush Songs’.
A woozy bedroom recording-style lead track, it’s a muffled, intimate extension of ‘The Moon Song’, which appeared on the OST for Spike Jonze’s ‘Her’.
‘Crush Songs’, Karen O’s first solo album, will be released on 9th September via Julian Casablancas’ label, Cult Records. Featuring material, including home recordings, made back in 2006 and 2007, the record will also include Karen’s “own personal drawings, handwritten lyric and more”.
“When I was 27 I crushed a lot,” she says of the new record. “I wasn’t sure I’d ever fall in love again. These songs were written and recorded in private around this time. They are the soundtrack to what was an ever continuing love crusade. I hope they keep you company on yours.”
‘Rapt’ arrives alongside an underwater-based new video, which you can watch below. It’s directed by her husband, Barney Clay.
