Kendrick Lamar tops UK album chart with ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’
April cover star Marina and the Diamonds also scores a third Top Ten album.
Kendrick Lamar has scored his first UK Number One with the sort-of-surprise-release of album ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’.
The record was released a week early, having only been announced for today (23rd March) earlier this month.
The album had already broken Spotify’s ‘most streams in one day’ record, and has also reached Number One in Australia and New Zealand.
Elsewhere in ‘UK chart news’, April cover star Marina and the Diamonds reaches #10 with ‘Froot’ - her third UK Top Ten album, Modest Mouse’s ‘Strangers to Ourselves’ is in at #28, and Years & Years hold strong in the Singles Chart with ‘King’ at #2 (#1 is still Sam Smith and John Legend’s ‘Lay Me Down’, ‘FYI’).
Albums released today (23rd March) include Courtney Barnett - ‘Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit’, The Cribs’ ‘For All My Sisters’, and Laura Marling’s ‘Short Movie’.
