Listen: Ben Khan Unveils New Single, ‘Youth’

Supremely talented and exciting London producer reveals his next step - it’s taken from the ‘1992’ EP.

For a while it looked like Ben Khan was a guy more suited to shadowy productions. Last year’s selection - ‘Drive (Part 1)’, ‘Eden’ and to a lesser extent ‘Savage’ - all enjoyed a sense of lurking in the alleyways, waiting to unveil the show-stopping trick.

‘Youth’ is the opposite. True to its title, it enjoys a giddy sense of being unbounded, like there’s nothing that could possibly stop it in its path. The same funk-stamped guitars (often compared to Jai Paul, Jungle et al.) are there, but smack bam in the middle is a horde of euphoric synths, bongo drums and a Rob Base sample. Ben Khan’s finally revealing the man behind the music. Turns out he’s a pretty happy guy, capable of writing giant pop songs that rival M83 in these kinds of quarters.

The ‘1992’ EP is on 5th May.
