Listen: Gem Club Share ‘Braid’ Track

The tear-soaked piano balladry of Gem Club doesn’t look to be something that wavers in style or sensibility on new album ‘In Roses’. All three songs unveiled to date - ‘Polly’, ‘Hypericum’ and now ‘Braid’ - root themselves in haunting, sombre songwriting from Christopher Barnes.

That’s of no detriment: Barnes’ new record on Hardly Art, ‘In Roses’, is an album recorded entirely on analog at Tiny Telephone with The Magik*Magik Orchestra. Its intentions are clear as day - ‘Braid’ is an unsettling beast, a distinct and lurking number that previews a record that will, undoubtedly, make a fair few listeners sob like babies.
