Listen: We Are The Physics Announce New Single, ‘Applied Robotics’

Earlier this month, We Are The Physics unveiled a brand new single, in the shape of ‘Goran Ivanisevic’.

Since then they’ve not only found themselves plastered over Croatian media - but also landed themselves a starring role in Stuart Murdoch’s film, ‘God Help The Girl’. As they explained earlier this week on their blog

‘Today we did some shooting for a film we’re in called God Help The Girl, written and directed by Stuart Murdoch of Belle & Sebastian and produced by Barry Mendel who did some of our favouriteses films like Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums. So, we geeked out today like a suited Spidey fan at a comic convention.

We were pretending we were in a band, just like we pretend to do in real life, except people pretended to like us which they don’t in real life. We played the same three notes over and over again, just like in real life, and people jumped around and cheered, just like they don’t do in real life. Mostly because our singer was the impossibly handsome Pierre who is so handsome he converted us to homosexuality.’

Today, they announced they are to release another single from the forthcoming album, ‘Applied Robotics’. It will be released on download and limited edition CD on 13th August.

The band’s Michael M tells us more…

‘We’ve had Applied Robotics as a live staple for a while and generally stop to take photos of each other in the middle of the song as a future indicator of the very moment we get bored of playing it. It’s fairly indicative of the general theme of our new record which is the democratisation of high technology and how it becomes an almost invisible and underwhelming extension of our bodies. We thought maybe we no longer appreciate how powerful the technology we take for granted is and we wondered at which point we’ll merge with it completely like robo-folks. It could’ve already happened if you regard even wearing glasses or contact lenses as high technology, which is certainly was at one point. Also, we just liked shouting ‘robotics’ so everything we just said is retro-fitting justification. It’s more about shouting.’

‘Applied Robotics’ is available to be previewed below.
