Lonely The Brave: “It’ll be the first time the band’s been over to Ireland”

Ahead of their show on the Dr. Martens Stand For Something Tour, the Cambridge five-piece are already excited.

It’s official: we’re now at the halfway point of this year’s Stand For Something Tour, but things are showing no signs of slowing down. Having already seen Dutch Uncles, Palma Violets and Twin Atlantic cause a right ruckus across the country, the fun is set to continue for another month.

Cambridge five-piece Lonely The Brave are no strangers to the Dr. Martens Stand For Something Tour. After all, they actually played it last year, supporting Don Broco in London. Now, however, they’re back to go one bigger, and headline Belfast’s Limelight.

“It’ll be the first time the band’s been over to Ireland, so we’re excited,” explains frontman Dave Jakes. “I think half the audience will consist of Mark’s family!” he laughs. “They’re all from the Fermanagh area, so it’ll be great to meet them all. I’m looking forward to it.”

Having spent the summer playing a handful of festivals and writing their second album, returning to a more intimate venue is something they’re very much looking forward to. “I always used to think I’d be more comfortable on the big stages,” he says, “but I do think there is something to having the band all in close proximity to each other. It’s like a comfort blanket, for me. You can feel a bit isolated on the big stages. The last Dr. Martens show we played, supporting Don Broco, was a good ‘un!”

Lonely The Brave will play the Belfast leg of the Dr. Martens’ Stand For Something Tour, in association with DIY on 7th November, supported by Only Rivals and R51.
