Los Campesinos! raise over £10,000 in charity donations for ‘Never Kiss A Tory’ tees

Since Monday, this week has played out like a surreal, fictional drama. People woke up to the news that the country’s Prime Minister had, in his youth, put his “private parts” into a dead pig’s mouth for an Oxford society initiation.

Charlie Brooker’s ‘Black Mirror’ series - where a 2011 episode revolved around the British Prime Minister being forced to have sex with a pig - wasn’t the only fortune teller, in this case. Los Campesinos! managed to predict the future way back with their ‘Never Kiss A Tory’ t-shirts, depicting David Cameron snogging his favourite animal.

An original run raised £6,000 for charity, and this week saw Los Camp! giving the tees a much-needed reprint. Last night they confirmed they’d raised “around £11,000” in donations, distributed between Child Poverty Action Group, Refugee Council, and The Trussell Trust.

The newly-printed batch has now sold out. But #piggate will live long in the memory.
