Matt Maltese shares video for ‘Greatest Comedian’
This time the serial house-crasher gets cosy with a pair of Princess Diana enthusiasts.
Following on from his epic video for ‘As the World Caves In’ - which sees him crooning away in a couple’s bathroom - Matt Maltese is back on his serial house-crashing A game for his ‘Greatest Comedian’ visual.
This time around, the South Londoner plonks himself in the middle of two Princess Diana enthusiasts, who look on with mild bewilderment as he fills the room with yearnful warblings. Though he stops short of nicking some of their Viennetta ice-cream, he also stops off in the kitchen for a glass of milk. What a considerate guest, tbh.
“I wanted to create, with Jak, a kind of comically unsettling household scenario where seemingly loveless relationships are carrying on as normal whilst one of the family is performing a love song erratically amongst them,” Matt explains in a press release. “Jak and I went for these rich coloured, dated old England backdrops, and tried to reflect a distance between lovers. We tried to theatricalise the mundane and the stereotypical chores in relationships and households, so as to bring beauty back into ‘comfortable’ love and life arrangements.”
The song itself was produced by Alex Burey and Foxygen’s Jonathan Rado. Matt Maltese recently announced his biggest headline show to date at London’s Scala, on 6th June.
