Miley Cyrus reveals striking video for ninth album title track ‘Something Beautiful’

She’s also shared a second single, ‘Prelude’, and teased another song entitled ‘End Of The World’.

Miley Cyrus releases new songs 'Prelude' and 'Something Beautiful'; teases next single 'End Of The World'

Having last week confirmed that her next album, ‘Something Beautiful’, will arrive on 30th May (via Columbia Records), Miley Cyrus has well and truly raised the curtain on her next era with the release of not one but two new singles, both of which come accompanied by jaw-dropping videos.

‘Something Beautiful”s epic title track is a genre-bending statement of intent that blends slinky R&B with jazz accents and industrial, experimental production, while its visualiser sees Miley blur the boundaries of music, fashion and film with a striking custom outfit designed by Casey Cadwallader for the House of Mugler.

‘Prelude’, meanwhile, is our first proper introduction to the album’s accompanying film, which due to land in June and features cinematography from Belgian filmmaker Benoît Debie. As with the artwork for ‘Something Beautiful’, the ‘Prelude’ video features Miley wearing archival 1997 Thierry Mugler couture, suggesting an other-worldly, alien-esque aesthetic.

Finally, the pop phenomenon has also teased a third new song entitled ‘End Of The World’; slated for release on Thursday (3rd April), this number appears to lean into ’80s glam-rock influences and will, according to Miley’s Instagram, “reinforce the project’s immersive, operatic approach”, combining with ‘Something Beautiful’ and ‘Prelude’ to mark “the beginning of a carefully structured journey”.

Phew - how’s that for a busy week! Watch the official videos for ‘Something Beautiful’ and ‘Prelude’ (and revisit our review of Miley’s last effort, ‘Endless Summer Vacation’) below.
