Morrissey’s ‘Viva Hate’ Set To Receive Re-Release

The album, which was originally released back in 1988, marked his first solo venture.

EMI will be re-releasing Morrissey’s ‘Viva Hate’ album on the 23rd March.

The album, which was Morrissey’s debut solo effort, was originally released back in 1988, just six months after The Smiths’ final release.

However, EMI - with Morrissey’s full permission, we must add - are set to unleash a newly remastered edition of the record, through the classic Liberty label.

‘Viva Hate’ has been remastered by Stephen Street, who was the original producer, with the release’s artwork being directed by Morrissey himself; choosing a selection of very rare and unseen photos from Jake Walters and Kevin Cummins to adorn the sleeves and booklet.

The new edition features ‘Treat Me Like A Human Being’, which replaces ‘Ordinary Boys’, alongside a written introduction from Morrissey’s long-time confidant Chrissie Hynde.

The album will be available on CD and vinyl. The LP version will be a 180g heavyweight, gatefold vinyl, housed in a wide-spine sleeve with a pull-out poster and the CD will be housed in a gatefold, card sleeve.

Morrissey will also be releasing a limited edition 10’ picture disc of ‘Suedehead (Mael Mix)’, a remix of the song by Sparks. The single also comes with two previously unreleased live tracks, ‘We’ll Let You Know’ and ‘Now My Heart Is Full’

The release is in aid of Record Store Day 2012 and comes out on the 23rd April.
