Morrissey’s ‘Autobiography’ Released As Penguin Classic

The autobiography of Steven Patrick Morrissey has been released in book shops across the UK today (17th October), following an initial disagreement between Morrissey and his publishers - Penguin Classics - ahead of its original September release date.

Several tales and excerpts are doing the rounds, namely Morrissey’s first relationship (at 35), the end of his first relationship (with the assistance of Alan Bennett) and various celebrity encounters (eg. Mick Jagger only turning up to see four songs of a set by The Smiths). He also reveals the time where he featured as an extra on Coronation Street, was asked to appear in Eastenders and Emmerdale and nearly featured in a cameo on Friends.

Coming under the firing line in ‘Autobiography’ are Rough Trade’s Geoff Travis, two NME editors and the judges handling Morrissey’s legal dispute with former bandmate Mike Joyce.

Morrissey’s ‘Autobiography’ is available on Amazon and pretty much everywhere else across the country.

Today, Morrissey hosts a book signing in Gothenburg, Sweden.
