Mystery Jets announce new album ‘Curve of the Earth’
The band will release their fifth album on 22nd January 2016.
Mystery Jets have announced plans to release their brand new album ‘Curve of the Earth’ early next year.
The band, who are now joined by new recruit Jack Flanagan, will release their fifth album on 22nd January 2016 via Caroline International It follows on from 2012’s ‘Radlands’ and was recorded in their own Stoke Newingston-based studio.
The nine-track record was also produced themselves, and - as the band explained during DIY’s recent visit to their studio - stands as “a big melting pot of all of our influences” with the likes of Pink Floyd and King Crimson both getting a namecheck.
“For us, we’ve been through quite a lot in the last couple of years and there have been certain realisations that come with being in a band that has been playing together for two decades,” concludes Will Rees. “There’s been a lot of growing up that’s happened in the last couple of years, and a lot of us just doing it for ourselves and setting up the studio, and having to fight our own corners. Not worry about disappearing for a couple of years, not worry about whether we’re still popular or not, and just getting on with it and facing up to reality. I think these songs have that feeling about them.”
The tracklisting of ‘Curve of the Earth’ is as follows.
Telomere
Bombay Blue
Bubblegum
Midnight’s Mirrior
1985
Blood Red Balloon
Taken by The Tide
Saturine
The End Up
The band will also play a one-off show at London’ ICA on 10th November. More details can be found here.
