Mystery Jets Debut ‘Someone Purer’ Video
Mystery Jets will release their forthcoming LP ‘Radlands’ on the 30th April.
Mystery Jets have unveiled the video for ‘Someone Purer’ today, following the news earlier this week that bassist Kai Fish has left the band.
Speaking of his decision to leave the band, the bass player commented: ‘It was probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I sat down with the guys and said, ‘I’m finding being in the band really hard, but I’ll try my best to carry on.’ And I did, but feelings just don’t go away…”
In the meantime, Mystery Jets have enlisted bassist Peter Cochrane and pedal steel player Matt Park to help out with their upcoming touring schedule, the dates of which can be found below.

Kai Fish released his own solo album last September, and is expected to continue with his musical projects.
DIY caught up with guitarist William Rees prior to Fish’s departure who had this to say about the record:
“Everything on that record is true. Everything that’s being sung about has happened to us in America; we met Sister Everett, all the heartbreak stuff, it happened. But the nice thing about having this alter-ego is that you don’t feel responsible for it. It’s his fault, he’s the bastard… unless, of course, you admit to it, which is what I’ve just done.
“Music comes from experience because the one thing that anyone is really authorised to write about is their own experience. If you’ve lived through something really intense… that’s why people write about break ups a lot – or heartache – because it’s a very intense, often painful, experience. When you sit down to try to tackle that and you’ve done it, you’ve really suffered for it. You can’t write about things you don’t know.”
Let’s just hope that the same doesn’t go for their video content. Directed by Jack King, the video for ‘Someone Purer’ shows a dysfunctional family, weird woodland scenes and a slightly disturbing picnic.
Mystery Jets will release their forthcoming LP ‘Radlands’ on the 30th April via Rough Trade.
