Of Montreal announce details of new album, ‘Aureate Gloom’, share song ‘Bassem Sabry’

The record will be released next March.

Of Montreal have announced they are to release a new album early next year.

‘Aureate Gloom’, the thirteenth long-player from Kevin Barnes and pals, will be out on 2nd March in the UK, via Polyvinyl (then in the US the following day).

The album was recorded at Sonic Ranch in Texas, following Barnes’ writing retreat in New York. “I was going through a very stormy period in my life and felt like I was just completely trashed,” he explains. “I might be guilty ofsharing or exposing too much of my private life, but to me the best albums are those that help people connect with an artist on a deep, human level and that do so without too much artifice or evasiveness.”

Alongside the announcement, the band have shared lead single and opening track, ‘Bassem Sabry’, named after the Egyptian civil rights campaigner and journalist who died last spring.

The track listing for ‘Aureate Gloom’ is:

Bassem Sabry
Last Rites At The Jane Hotel
Empyrean Abbatoir
Aluminum Crown
Virgillian Lots
Monolithic Egress
Apollyon Of Blue Room
Estocadas
Chthonian Dirge For Uruk The Other
