Perfume Genius announces new album ‘Glory’
Mike Hadreas has shared news of his seventh album, alongside its lead track ‘It’s A Mirror’.

Two years on from the release of his last project ‘Ugly Season’, Perfume Genius - also known as Mike Hadreas - has confirmed plans to release his seventh album later this year.
His forthcoming record ‘Glory’ - due for release on 28th March via Matador Records - is set to be eleven tracks in length and sees him return to work with producer Blake Mills, with whom he’s worked on his previous three albums, the aforementioned ‘Ugly Season’, 2020’s ‘Set My Heart on Fire Immediately’ and its predecessor, 2017’s ‘No Shape’. This time around, however, the recording process was a much more collaborative process, with Hadreas being joined in the studio by a cast of musicians, including guitarists Meg Duffy and Greg Uhlmann, drummers Tim Carr and Jim Keltner, and bassist Pat Kelly, as well as Aldous Harding, who features on the album’s second track.
Alongside news of his next full-length, Perfume Genius has also shared its lead - and opening - track, ‘It’s A Mirror’. “I wake up overwhelmed even when nothing is going on,” Mike explains, of the track. “I spend the rest of the day trying to regulate, which I prefer to do at home alone with my thoughts. But why? They are mostly bad. They also haven’t really changed for decades. I wrote ‘It’s A Mirror’ while stuck in one of these isolating loops, seeing that something different and maybe even beautiful is out there but not quite knowing how to venture out. I have a lot more practice keeping the door closed.”
The track also arrives with an accompanying video - as directed by Cody Critcheloe, who also worked with Hadreas on the clip for ‘Queen’ - which you can watch below.
Perfume Genius has also announced plans for a full North American tour in support of ‘Glory”s release. Check out the tracklisting for the album, and his upcoming live schedule below.
