Purity Ring return! Listen to ‘Asido’

The track’s been released on the fifth anniversary of the band’s debut LP ‘Shrines’.

Today (24th July) marks the five year anniversary of the release of Purity Ring’s debut album ‘Shrines’, and the Canadian pair have shared a new track to celebrate.

The band had been sharing teasers for the anniversary and new music across the past few days, and today revealed new single ‘Asido’.

The new track, the first to come since 2015’s ‘Shrines’ follow-up ‘another eternity’, was premiered this afternoon on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show. It’s another slice of cutting, icy pop, with Megan James’ vocals as affecting as ever, pondering loneliness over production that rises and falls like waves.

The track has been confirmed to be a standalone cut by the band, who reveal they are also currently working on LP3.

Writing on Facebook, the pair say: “It has astoundingly been a long and short 5 years since we released our debut album, shrines.

“As we work at our own pace on the third Purity Ring album, we wanted to celebrate with all of you this monument in time. And so, we share with you asido, a parable that holds nothing before and nothing after. Thank you for both your kindness and your patience. Have a graceful outrageous day.”
