Moonchild Sanelly, Beth McCarthy, Milan Ring and more nominated for Reeperbahn Festival’s Anchor Award

The accolade has been presented to rising stars from around the world as part of the Hamburg festival since 2016.

Moonchild Sanelly, Beth McCarthy, Milan Ring and more nominated for Reeperbahn Festival's Anchor International Music Award

Hamburg’s Reeperbahn Festival - set to take place next month, from 18th-21st September - has announced the nominees for this year’s Anchor International Music Award, which gives up-and-coming musicians the opportunity to impress a specially selected jury panel of international industry names.

2024’s list of nominees is an eclectic one, too; it includes South Africa’s Moonchild Sanelly (who recently teamed up with Self Esteem for joint effort ‘Big Man’, as well as sharing her latest solo single ‘Big Booty’), British pop riser Beth McCarthy, and Aussie R&B powerhouse Milan Ring. Completing this year’s shortlist are Berlin duo strongboi, Austria’s KÄSSY, and the Mongolian-raised, Germany based ENJI.

On the jury panel, meanwhile, are Warpaint’s Emily Kokal, musician and singer Julia Stone (of Angus & Julia Stone), multi-hyphenate artist and activist Tayla Parx, and songwriter Tim Bendzko. These four experts will be watching the nominees perform over the festival’s two days and, come Saturday night, will crown this year’s winner at a special award show - the perfect way to top off Reeperbahn 2024.
