Sky Ferreira drops ‘Leash’, her first new music in two years
It’s taken from the soundtrack to A24’s forthcoming film Babygirl.

Alt-pop icon Sky Ferreira has returned with ‘Leash’, her first new song in two years (following 2022’s ‘Don’t Forget’).
Written for A24’s Nicole Kidman-starring upcoming film Babygirl (due out in cinemas on 25th December), ‘Leash’ is an assertive, synth-led cut that finds Sky back at her self-assured, electric best. It also marks the start of a new era proper for the beloved artist, whose first and only album to date - ‘Night Time, My Time’ - came out in 2013.
Since then, Sky has teased its long-awaited follow-up ‘Masochism’ with a smattering of singles, but now - according to a press release - her next album is finally “set for launch”. This is largely because Sky is now an independent artist, having been dropped from her previous label home of Capitol Records at the end of last year. Speaking in a recent Vogue interview, Sky has said of the label:
“They [Capitol Records] kept me from putting out new music for 10 years as a way of making me look like I’m incapable of it. I’m able to do a song for an A24 film after all this time because that first album clearly meant something to people.”
With more to come promised in 2025, ‘Leash’ is Sky’s first step into an exciting, unshackled new chapter. Check out the track below.
