On the telly
Spring King rules Jools with ‘Rectifier’
Band’s telly debut is well worth the wait.

Spring King’s last twelve months have been beyond exciting, and Tarek Musa and co. ticked another off the bucket list by playing last night’s Later… With Jools Holland.
Talk about a telly debut. The feverish excitement of their live shows is tough to replicate in a vast space, surrounded by music’s big names (including Elton John, no less). But they gave a sensational, twisted rendition of ‘Rectifier’, from debut album ‘Tell Me If You Like To’.
There was a time when Spring King were making-do with Tarek taking on both vocal and drum duties. They couldn’t find a full-time drummer, so Tarek took on both roles. Now, there’s a dynamic between these four members that they wouldn’t trade for anything - it’s more evident than ever, here.
They were joined by Bloc Party (playing two songs from latest album ‘HYMNS’), ol’ Elton, Basia Bulat, Corinne Bailey Rae and Kronos Quartet. Watch highlights here.
Next week’s Jools will feature sets from Iggy Pop, Lou Doillon, Protoje, Graham Nash, Blossoms and Margo Price.
