Spring King nominated for 2015 Billboard Teen Choice Award
Zane’s new faves have been given another surreal Stateside seal of approval.
It’s been a bizarre two weeks for Spring King, a beloved Manchester band who - up until Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 gig - were building a rep that remained very much under the radar.
That all changed when this year’s ‘City’ single opened Zane’s first ever Apple Music show, bringing them bonkers label offers and unprecedented attention.
Things have gotten even weirder, with the announcement that Spring King are nominated for a Billboard Teen Choice Award. They’re amongst the likes of Taylor Swift and One Direction in being up for gongs, and they’ve a fair chance of winning the ‘Choice Music: Next Big Thing’ prize.
Their competition - Clark Beckham, Kalin and Miles, Skate Maloley, Bea Miller and the now-defunct Neon Jungle. Couple this with Zane’s seal of approval, and Spring King have enjoyed a surreal spell not dissimilar to that time a British politician name-checked Drenge in his resignation letter, and they went on to meet Kanye on Jools.
Later this month, Spring King headline a free DIY Presents show at London’s The Old Blue Last, for our Don’t July To Me Baby series. Check out the full line-ups below, with one more headliner to be announced.
