Sunflower Bean announce new album, ‘Twentytwo In Blue’

The trio’s second album will be released in March.

Sunflower Bean reveal new track ‘I Was A Fool’, announce UK tour for 2018 Not long after having smashed it (a scientific term, we believe) supporting Wolf Alice across the UK on their massive winter tour, New York trio Sunflower Bean have announced details of a new album.

‘Twentytwo In Blue’ is the follow-up to 2016 debut ‘Human Ceremony’ and will be released via Lucky Number on 23rd March.

It features the already-revealed track ‘I Was A Fool’, as well as newbie ‘Crisis Fest’. “This last year was extremely alarming, traumatic, and politically volatile,” they understate. “While writing this album, we often reflected back on the people we met while on tour. We felt a strong kinship with the audiences that came to see us all over the country, and we wanted to write a song for them - something to capture the anxieties of an uncertain future. ‘Crisis Fest’ is less about politics and more about the power of us, the young people in this country.”

The record was co-produced by Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s Jacob Portrait and Friends’ Matt Molnar, who also helmed ‘Human Ceremony’.

“I think one word that always comes to mind when I think about this record is lovable,” adds front woman Julia Cumming. “We want the songs to be something that someone can get attached to, and have be a part of them. Because that’s what I look for in songs myself, and that’s the kind of experience we want to give to others.”
