In celebration of all things Lynchian, The Joy Formidable have covered the theme tune from cult ’90s TV show Twin Peaks.
With a new series of the programme about to start production, and a new album from the band about to be finished, why shouldn’t the two combine? The theme tune - originally entitled ‘Falling’ - was composed by Angelo Badalamenti, and served as the instrumental title track for Twin Peaks over the show’s two season run. Lyrics for the song, penned by David Lynch, can be heard in the version sung by Julee Cruise.
As well as covering the cult classic, The Joy Formidable have given an update on their new album. “We’re almost finished, just getting ready to mix,” the band told Consequence Of Sound. “We made the record in North Wales, in our studio, The Red Brick. We’ve taken our time, made something special. We might preview some stuff this autumn at a few of the festivals we’re playing. See how we’re fucking feeling.”
