The bassist had been fighting lung cancer, and died this morning (April 20th) at the age of 34.
TV On The Radio’s Gerard Smith has passed away.
The bassist had been fighting lung cancer, and died this morning (April 20th) at the age of 34. Smith had been sitting out the band’s remaining 2011 dates following his diagnosis.
A message on the band’s website reads:
‘We are very sad to announce the death of our beloved friend and bandmate, Gerard Smith, following a courageous fight against lung cancer. Gerard passed away the morning of April 20th, 2011. We will miss him terribly.’
The band have cancelled some of their upcoming shows. Those currently pulled are:
