Watch U2, Sam Smith, Interpol and Slaves play Jools Holland
All-star bill is the second to last in the latest series.
Last night saw U2 topping a star-studded bill for Later… With Jools Holland. A week on from the physical release of their ‘Songs of Innocence’ record (charting at #6 following its free iTunes giveaway), Bono and co. led the show with two tracks.
They played ‘Every Breaking Wave’ and opened the show with ‘Volcano’.
U2 were joined by Sam Smith, who also played two tracks from his ‘In the Lonely Hour’ debut. He performed ‘Money On My Mind’ and ‘Stay With Me’.
Interpol were the other heavyweights, the New Yorkers performing ‘All The Rage Back Home’ from their return-to-form LP ‘El Pintor’. Zola Jesus also appeared, playing ‘Dangerous Days’ from her latest LP.
Finally, there was Slaves, making an assault of a Jools debut with the customary running-on-the-spot and forthright chants that’ve given them such a rep.
Watch the best performances from last night’s episode below. A full, extended edition airs on BBC Two, Friday 24th October.
The last in the series of Jools takes place next week - Years & Years, Tune-Yards and Robert Plant are on the bill.
