Watch: Warpaint Preview Chris Cunningham-Directed Documentary
Documentary was filmed by Chris over 2 years as he followed the band’s studio process.

‘angsty, ethereal, shadowy, heavenly’ self-titled album is out today on Rough Trade Records. Presumably the entire world will already be preoccupied with getting its collection ears around ‘Disco // very’. The LA band aren’t stopping at the new record, though. They’ve had a Chris Cunningham directed documentary in the works, with a release date still to be confirmed. They’ve shared the doc’s first preview, however, previewing a film that brings together 2 years worth of footage showing the band in the studio, doing their thing.
Chris is married to Warpaint bassist Jenny Lee Lindberg, as it happens, so he’s been given complete access the the band’s studio sessions. ‘In addition to capturing imagery he also reimagined the songs themselves, creating beautiful and exciting alternate versions to soundtrack the visuals,’ states a blurb. In the preview for ‘Love Is To Die’, he’s taken the song’s sweving bassline and given it a more abstract backdrop. Watch below.
