Watch Wild Beasts Cover Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’

The ‘Present Tense’-bringers showcase their inner pop with a fantastic cover.

Wild Beasts

essentially just released a massive pop album with ‘Present Tense’. Sure, it gets ugly with society and packs tense and complex moments within its 40 minutes, but a song like ‘Mecca’ could top the charts given the right treatment.

‘“I think we could have made a far more abstract and leftfield longplayer than we have,’ explained Hayden Thorpe in a DIY interview. ‘But I think the adventure and the distilling what we do into an attempt at pop songs felt more adventurous and dangerous.”

The band’s love of pop comes full circle in the below video, where Hayden and Tom Fleming happen upon New York record store Other Music to perform a cover of Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’. There’s initial shock and laughter, but let’s face it; this cover makes perfect sense.
