Only a hermit could have possibly not heard of La Roux, who has been hyped up beyond belief for 2009. Indeed, what lay behind all the hype is certainly impressive. However, the critics have been questioning whether they can perform to such a great standard in the gaze of the public eye. This new offering from La Roux is a bit of a disappointment. Whilst the demo of ‘In For The Kill’ provided such excitement on MySpace, this appears rather lacklustre. The effort put into this recording seems rather mellow. In a comparison between the demo and this release, it is the demo that arguably comes out on top. It packs a real punch whereas this single certainly does not grab ones attention. It is a great song and the velvety vocals of Elly Jackson stop nothing short of sublime; it’s just such a shame that everything else does not do her justice.
