Jamie xx previews ‘Tree of Codes’ ballet with new trailer
Manchester Opera House will host performances this July.
For the past few months, alongside putting together the finishing touches to debut album, Jamie xx has been scoring a contemporary ballet.
‘Tree of Codes’ will debut at Manchester International Festival this July at the Opera House. Choreographed by Wayne McGregor, it’s an abstract piece based around a similarly modern novel by Jonathan Safran Foer.
Below, you can hear the first piece of music to emerge from the score. It’s called ‘Pianna’, and it’s a haunting, piano-led number that’s a thousand miles away from ‘In Colour’’s excitable dance glow.
Speaking to DIY as part of our June cover feature, Jamie xx confirmed that Okay Kaya would be performing on vocals. ‘Tree of Codes’ runs from 2nd-12th July.
