The Strokes hint at new material
Albert Hammond Jr. suggested they might air brand new music at New York’s Governors Ball.

The Strokes have dropped a fairly coy hint suggesting that they might air new material when they headline New York’s Governors Ball in June.
Asked by a fan on Twitter about new music at the festival, the band’s Albert Hammond Jr. replied with a fairly vague “you’ll just to have to wait and see.”
Alone, that doesn’t really amount to much, but back in March, organisers of the event did an AMA session on Reddit, and said that they asked The Strokes to return on the basis that they would play new material. “This would be their first batch of new tunes in about, well, half a decade,” they said. “That’s kind of a big deal.” It is indeed!
Meanwhile, The Strokes’ Nikolai Fraiture also said that the band will be taking requests at the Governors Ball.
If or when new Strokes material does land, it’ll be their first since 2013’s ‘Comedown Machine’. Listen to ‘Reptilia’ below.
