The Avalanches claim “visa fuckups” compromised their live comeback

The Avalanches have claimed that “visa fuckups” forced the group to revert to a DJ set for their live comeback at Primavera Sound, Barcelona.

The group’s first show in fifteen years, it saw Robbie Chater and Tony Di Blasi debuting new song ‘Subways’ as well as playing ‘Frankie Sinatra’.

On a since-removed Soundcloud post, they wrote: “Put this show together an hour before showtime after visa fuckups nixed our live band plans. Thank fuck we had our vinyl with us. Special thanks and much love to Jamie xx who came through for us with the classic ‘good times’ acapella at the last moment.”

New album ‘Wildflower’ is due out 8th July, sixteen years on from 2000 debut ‘Since I Left You’. It’s set to feature Danny Brown, Toro Y Moi and Father John Misty.
