Alabama Shakes Top First Ever Record Store Chart
It is also particularly apt that the first Number 1 of the new chart is released by the Rough Trade label.”“

Earlier this week it was revealed that the Official Charts Company were to launch the first ever official Record Store Chart and today, Alabama Shakes have topped it.
As revealed on Steve Lamacq’s BBC 6Music radio show, ‘Boys & Girls’ made it into the Number 1 slot, swiftly followed by Adele and Trembling Bells.
The full rundown is as follows.
1 - Alabama Shakes, ‘Boys & Girls’
2 - Adele, ‘21’
3 - Trembling Bells, ‘The Marble Downs’
4 - Graham Coxon, ‘A+E’
5 - M. Ward, ‘A Wasteland Companion’
6 - Lana Del Rey, ‘Born To Die’
7 - Jim Lockey & The Solemn Sun, ‘Death’
8 - The Black Keys, ‘El Camino’
9 - Dr John, ‘Locled Down’
10 - The Shins, ‘Port Of Morrow’
Speaking of the first ever rundown, Official Charts Company Managing Director, Martin Talbot, says: ‘The first Official Record Store Chart underlines exactly why this is going to be an important way of promoting new music, with Alabama Shakes leading the way in a Top 10 featuring Shins, Jim Lockey and Trembling Bells, among others. The fact that there are also places for established acts such as Adele, Lana Del Rey and Graham Coxon underlines the catholic tastes represented by independent stores.
‘It is also particularly apt that the first Number 1 of the new chart is released by the Rough Trade label, which grew out of the Rough Trade record store in Ladbroke Grove founded by Geoff Travis - who continues to run the label to this day. The label is, of course, totally unconnected to the now legendary record store today.’
