Current Mercury Prize odds put David Bowie in pole position
The winner of the 2016 award will be crowned tonight (15th September).
With the Mercury Prize 2016 taking place tonight, last minute betting odds put David Bowie on course for a posthumous win with ‘Blackstar’.
Latest odds from William Hill have Bowie at 1/2 to win the award, with his closest rival Kano at 8/1. Skepta and Anohni are both level at 10/1. At the ceremony, taking place this evening (15th September), actor Michael C Hall is set to honour the departed Bowie with a performance of his track ‘Lazarus’, from nominated album ‘Blackstar’.
Radiohead, meanwhile, have slipped to 14/1 to win with ‘A Moon Shaped Pool’ - a loss would make it the fifth time the Oxford band have been nominated for the prize and failed to win. Ouch.
Full odds as of 10:30am can be found below - DIY will be ‘on the carpet’ at the ceremony tonight.
