DIIV announce new album ‘Deceiver’, share new track ‘Skin Game’
The band’s third album is due out this October.
Brooklyn band DIIV have announced details of their new album ‘Deceiver’.
The band’s third record - and follow-up to their 2016 album ‘Is The Is Are’ - is set for release on 4th October 2019 via Captured Tracks and was recorded in Los Angeles back in March this year. The band also enlisted Sonny Diperri - who’s previously worked with My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails and Protomartyr - as producer.
That’s not all: the group have also shared a first taste of the album with ‘Skin Game’.
“It’s an imaginary dialogue between two characters, which could either be myself or people I know,” says Zachary Cole Smith of ‘Skin Game’. “I spent six months in several different rehab facilities at the beginning of 2017. I was living with other addicts. Being a recovering addict myself, there are a lot of questions like, ‘Who are we? What is this disease?’ Our last record was about recovery in general, but I truthfully didn’t buy in. I decided to live in my disease instead. ‘Skin Game’ looks at where the pain comes from. I’m looking at the personal, physical, emotional, and broader political experiences feeding into the cycle of addiction for millions of us.”
