Disclosure Respond To Azealia Banks’ Non-Track
The beef that keeps on beefing takes us no closer to hearing the collaboration.
Cast the mind back to an initial flurry of excitement that met a Disclosure x Azealia Banks collaboration, and consider the situation today: Two acts going back and forth over a track that was put together in the back of a car, which may or may not be ‘leaked’ but which is most definitely not finished or particularly good.
Banks’ statements yesterday in an interview with AU review rendered the song inferior to material on Azealia’s ‘Broke With Expensive Taste’ debut.
Disclosure have since responded in an interview with Triple J, with Howard joking: ‘We’re actually terrible, terrible people.’
Guy explained the collaborative process: ‘We just wrote the first verse and a build-up - there wasn’t a chorus - and she kind of took it away.’
He continued: ‘Then she thought we were rude in that interview, but we apologised and everything. It didn’t seem to matter that we apologise… We made the beat on the way there in the car, so I don’t give a damn if she uses it. Whatever.’
