Bastille, Elbow, Sam Smith confirmed for Band Aid 30 single
New release is out 17th November to aid the fight against Ebola.
Details have emerged for this year’s Band Aid 30 single, which Midge Ure and Bob Geldof have commissioned to aid the fight against the Ebola disease.
Out 17th November, recordings will take place on 15th November. Several high-profile artists have been invited, with more to be confirmed.
It’s been announced (via several sources, including Lizo Mzimba and Kevin Hughes) that Bastille, Foals and Elbow will all take part in the recording. Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, Olly Murs, Ellie Goulding, Paloma Faith, Emili Sandé and One Direction have also been confirmed for the track.
Needless to say, Bono and Chris Martin are making an appearance.
Geldof has also claimed that he’s asked David Bowie to record the introduction for the song, which will adapt original lyrics to be framed around “pernicious” Ebola.
Paul Epworth is set to produce the record, with US artists set to be involved with the help of Quincy Jones. Tracey Emin has provided the official single art.
All proceeds will go towards the fight against Ebola. The single won’t be made available on Spotify until January 2015.
