Fontaines DC share final ‘Romance’ preview ‘In The Modern World’
Their hugely anticipated fourth lands this Friday.
Just ahead of the arrival of their huge fourth album ‘Romance’ (out on 23rd August via XL Recordings), DIY’s current cover stars Fontaines DC have unveiled one final single, ‘In The Modern World’.
The track follows the release of previous cuts ‘Starburster’, ‘Favourite’, and ‘Here’s The Thing’, and is, according to a press release, probably frontman Grian Chatten’s favourite on the album. Written by Grian during a 10-day solo stay in LA, the song centres around an imagined relationship being conducted at the end of the world, the intersection of desire and destruction.
What’s more, it also arrives accompanied by a suitably cinematic video directed by filmmaker Luna Carmoon and starring actor Ewan Mitchell. You can watch the video, read our Fontaines DC cover interview, and grab yourself a print copy of our July/August 2024 mag below.
The band will also be heading out on a winter tour ahead of their recently announced Finsbury Park date, including two sold out nights at London’s Alexandra Palace and two homecoming shows at Dublin’s 3 Arena. Support across the tour comes from Sorry and DIIV, while Kneecap and Amyl and the Sniffers will join them at Finsbury Park. Check out where they’ll be stopping off around the UK and Ireland below.
