Fontaines DC share fresh preview of ‘Romance’ with latest track ‘Here’s The Thing’
Their latest offering comes just days after the announcement of their massive 2025 headline show at London’s Finsbury Park.

Fresh from announcing plans for their biggest headline show yet just last week, Fontaines DC are back with another preview of their forthcoming new album ‘Romance’.
The third cut to be taken from their massively-anticipated fourth album - which is due out on 23rd August via XL Recordings - ‘Here’s The Thing’ follows on from previous singles ‘Starburster’ and ‘Favourite’. “It’s an anxious tune that twists and turns in what it wants, back and forth between pain and numbness,” the band’s Grian Chatten has said of the track, which once again harnesses the gnarly sounds of their more recent nu-metal influences.
The track also comes accompanied by a brand new video, as directed by filmmaker Luna Carmoon, which places the viewer in the centre of a glitzy irish dancing competition, but all is not as it seems…

Ahead of the release, frontman Grian Chatten spoke to DIY about the new direction of the Dublin band’s fourth LP in our July / August 2024 cover feature. “It was important for me to not have the album be placed in a ‘Dogrel’-shaped box, and I think people are capable of doing that. People want so much for us to write ‘Boys in the Better Land’ over and over again that they’ll be like, ‘Oh, [new single] ‘Favourite’, that’s a bit like ‘Boys in the Better Land’’. So, with the visuals and everything, I just wanted to make sure that you couldn’t do that,” he said. “I think to keep people… not confused, but to make people feel like they don’t fucking know who we are fully is a very important thing for me. And that involves maybe disappointing people or freaking people out.” Read the full feature online or in the July/ August print issue.
The band will also be heading out on a winter tour ahead of their Finsbury Park date, including two sold out nights at London’s Alexandra Palace and two homecoming shows at Dublin’s 3 Arena. Support across the tour comes from Sorry and DIIV, while Kneecap and Amyl and the Sniffers will join them at Finsbury Park. Tickets for their July 2025 date go on sale this Friday (9th August) from 9am.
