Formation step up to the big leagues on ‘Under The Tracks’ EP
The brother duo’s new EP is a flag-bearer for one of 2016’s most exciting prospects - it’s premiering on DIY.
When Formation first emerged, clutching cowbells to their chests and feeding an much-needed shot of sugar-rush energy into modern electronica, they already looked primed for big things. Few could’ve mapped out their 2015 though.
Unashamed dedication to pop groove drives this twin pairing, Will and Matt Ritson dousing everything in an infectious, earworm melody. We caught up with them back in March, on the cusp of one hell of a summer. Capturing hearts across the globe, they wracked up party-starting festival slots and a run alongside the country’s greatest live band, Foals among their many accolades - now they’re capping off their year with their strongest statement of intent yet.
Premiering below on DIY, the duo’s new ‘Under The Tracks’ EP is a mammoth leap forward. Marking this lot out as leading 2016’s pack of huge new prospects, there’s a fizz to every percussive sample and sultry bassline. Party anthems, brooding basement-ready electronics and euphoric numbers all find a place - it’s a cocktail that slips down easy, but gives one hell of a buzz. Check it out in full below, first on DIY. They play the following dates later this month:

25 Bristol, The Louisiana
26 London, Corsica Studios
27 Manchester, Soup Kitchen (DIY Presents)
