DIY Class of 2014 alumni Fryars has just announced details of his new album, ‘Power’. It’s out 17th November.

Newly signed to Fiction, the record features previously unveiled tracks ‘Cool Like Me’ and ‘Love So Cold’. Benjamin Garrett’s last record, ‘Dark Young Hearts’, was released four years ago, but essentially the London musician’s treating this new release as a debut.

“I’ve never stopped writing,” he told DIY back in December 2013. “ wound up touring the first album very quickly. It didn’t feel like there was too much point to doing it further, so I went back to the drawing board. I felt like the thing had run out of steam a bit - not that I didn’t think it was a great record.”

‘Power’ was recorded by Garrett and Luke Smith, with XL-producer Rodaidh McDonald also providing additional production.

The new album’s being described by Garrett as “a soundtrack to a film that does not exist.”

He’s streaming a new track (below), titled ‘Prettiest Ones Fly Highest’. Pre-order ‘Power’ now.
